Environmental Stewardship

Promote sustainable practices and projects to protect and enhance Garrett County's natural resources and unique environmental heritage.

Holler to Hilltop Revival Corp is dedicated to advancing environmental resilience and sustainability in Garrett County and the greater Appalachian region. Through its Environmental Stewardship initiative, the organization will implement programs and services that promote ecological health, community education, and regenerative development practices.

Key projects include:

  • Brownfield Remediation and Land Reuse: Partner with environmental consultants and public agencies to remediate contaminated or neglected sites and return them to productive community use, prioritizing green space, public benefit, and low-impact development.

  • Sustainable Building and Rehabilitation Practices: Incorporate green building principles—including energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, and recycled materials—into all construction and rehabilitation projects to reduce environmental impact.

  • Community Gardening and Urban Agriculture: Develop and support community gardens, native plantings, and urban agriculture programs that enhance local food access, promote biodiversity, and educate residents on sustainable land use.

  • Environmental Education and Workforce Training: Provide training opportunities and educational workshops focused on conservation, renewable energy, sustainable construction, and green job skills for youth and adults.

  • Watershed and Green Infrastructure Initiatives: Collaborate with conservation groups to implement rain gardens, permeable surfaces, and other green infrastructure to manage stormwater, reduce runoff, and improve water quality in local watersheds.

  • Recycling and Waste Reduction Campaigns: Launch community-wide education and engagement campaigns around waste reduction, recycling, composting, and circular economy practices.
