HUBZone Workforce Initiative
ABOUT THE WORKFORCE INITIATIVE
Our program is designed to connect HUBZone employees with employers that are seeking skillsets aligning with the applicants' field so they may gain meaningful employment. The mission of the HUBZone Workforce Initiative is to:
Develop career pathways for unemployed and underemployed HUBZone residents to middle or high skilled occupations.
Generate more impactful employment opportunities by ensuring HUBZone employees are paired with companies interested in hiring and growing them for a future as a full-time employee.
Provide opportunities for job seekers in remote regions to connect with employers operating in the Federal sector.
Assist HUBZone small businesses with securing the type of workforce they need to remain competitive in the federal marketplace.
About the HUBZone Program
The Historically Underutilized Business Zones program began in 1997 with a promise of stimulating distressed communities by using federal contracting incentives to reverse unemployment, reduce poverty and create jobs.
What Does That Mean for My Community?
Overall, the program helps small businesses in urban and rural communities gain preferential access to federal procurement opportunities, therefore, allowing:
Federal dollars to flow back to HUBZone communities;
Job creation in economically depressed areas; and
Economic development in the areas where it's needed most.
Why Should I Care About HUBZones?
Programs like the HUBZone program serve as a lifeline to distressed communities by creating much-needed jobs. Access to meaningful and sustainable employment provides a crucial pathway to independence for workers and creates an economic boost for the local community.
The HUBZone Program gives career seekers:
The opportunity to develop in-demand skills to support local business.
The opportunity to earn family-sustaining wages in a turbulent economy.
In the world of Workforce Development, demand for services is at an all-time high.
Long-term unemployment and systemic barriers to employment continue to keep capable people out of the workforce.
